Apnea Yoga is the crossroads of body stretching + lung stretching. Think - creative vinyasa flow with short breath holds woven throughout class. The purpose - to improve lung elasticity + increase CO2 tolerance. Why are these things important? Increased lung elasticity means stronger, more resilient lungs. It also increases oxygen efficiency by recruiting the alveoli from the bases of your lungs. Over time, increased CO2 tolerance triggers higher red blood cell production - which then allows more oxygen to be carried around the body with less effort.
